TIM PEAKE CMG - 10 year anniversary
Ten years ago today, students and staff from Chichester High School for Boys and Chichester High School for Girls came together to witness a truly historic moment - watching former CHSB student Tim Peake launch into space on his mission to the International Space Station.
Born in Chichester and educated at Chichester High School for Boys, Tim’s journey from local classrooms to orbiting Earth captured imaginations across the school community and beyond. In a special and very personal tribute, the CHSB school badge also travelled into space, proudly representing the school as Tim orbited the Earth.
During his six-month Principia mission, Tim became the first British astronaut to complete a spacewalk, carried out hundreds of scientific experiments, and inspired millions of young people through his passion for science, engineering and exploration.
We were delighted to be involved with Tim both before and after his mission, welcoming him back to share his experiences and inspire future generations.
To mark the 10-year anniversary of his launch, Tim delivered a live online lesson from the Science Museum on Monday 15 December 2025, reconnecting with schools across the country and reminding us all that extraordinary journeys can begin right here.
We were delighted to join in
Tim’s story continues to inspire our school community - a powerful reminder that with curiosity, determination and ambition, anything is possible.
Tim’s physics teacher, Mr Gouldstone is still teaching at CHS and enjoys telling students about Tim during lessons!
