Assistant Headteacher/Lead DSL

Mr Robert Ward

My role at CHS as Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead centres around fostering a vibrant and inclusive school community. I aim for every student to be empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

By providing strategic oversight of the Art Department, Careers provision, and the Heads of House, I take a holistic approach to student development. I recognise that academic excellence is closely linked to a strong culture of safety, well-being, and future aspirations.

I lead the integration of character development, culture, and climate. This ensures that our pastoral systems and high-quality careers guidance effectively prepare students for the complexities of life beyond school.

My professional commitment is further enriched by my experience teaching at international institutions in Beijing and Shanghai. This experience allows me to impart a unique global perspective and nurture culturally aware, globally-minded citizens.

Ultimately, I am dedicated to creating an environment where resilience and ambition are supported by rigorous safeguarding. I want to ensure our students are equipped to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.

I have been fortunate enough to have taught at educational institutions in Beijing and Shanghai. This enriching experience has afforded me the unique opportunity to impart an international perspective upon students, thereby enabling them to gain a comprehensive understanding of the diverse range of national and international opportunities that exist within our interconnected world. Furthermore, this experience empowers me to effectively support and guide students in their development as globally-minded and culturally-aware citizens.
