UK Harvest visit CHS

UK Harvest recently visited our school to provide an engaging lesson on the use of air fryers in cooking. The Year 10 students had the opportunity to learn how to prepare a delicious vegetarian burger, and they were given the option to include cheese if they wished. Throughout the lesson, they discovered that many vegetables can actually be enjoyed raw, which opened their eyes to new ways of incorporating fresh produce into their meals.

Moreover, the students learned about the art of flavor enhancement, experimenting with various ingredients such as chili, herbs, and spices to elevate the taste of their burgers. This hands-on experience not only taught them valuable cooking skills but also encouraged them to get creative in the kitchen.

In addition to the lesson, UK Harvest generously donated three brand new air fryers to our school, along with a substantial supply of tinned food for our cupboards. This contribution will greatly benefit our cooking classes and the overall food resources available to students. Our school was fortunate enough to be selected by UK Harvest after winning the blue token scheme at Tesco, highlighting our commitment to healthy eating and food education. Overall, it was an informative and enjoyable experience that left the students excited about cooking and exploring new culinary possibilities.
