Chef Santo visits CHS
Our Year 10 students enrolled in the Hospitality and Catering program experienced an exciting visit from Chef Santo, a skilled professional chef. Chef Santo came to CHS to demonstrate the proper techniques for portioning a chicken, a crucial skill for anyone pursuing a career in the culinary arts.
As Chef Santo expertly guided the class, the students watched him closely and attentively. They were eager to learn and used their knife skills to follow along. Under his guidance, they carefully removed the chicken's breasts, thighs, legs, and wings. Each student took turns practicing these techniques, with many expressing their enthusiasm for the task. These chicken parts will be utilised in various recipes over the coming weeks, their next lesson is centered around making Chicken Kiev.
The experience not only provided practical skills but also filled the classroom with a sense of excitement and collaboration. The students thoroughly enjoyed having a professional chef lead the lesson, finding his teaching style both engaging and inspiring. Chef Santo's approachable demeanor helped to create a wonderful atmosphere in the room, fostering a spirit of learning and discovery among the students.
Mrs Bishop, Miss Gardner and Mrs Paffey could see that the students were not just learning a new skill; they were also building confidence in their abilities as aspiring chefs. Chef Santo was particularly praised for his ability to connect with the students, making the lesson fun and informative at the same time.
Mrs Bishop has already taken steps to invite Chef Santo back for another session, this time focusing on a pasta workshop. The prospect of another visit has left the students excited and eager to learn more culinary techniques under his expert guidance.
